These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Career Story ("Career Story," "we," "us," or "our"), including our website, applications, software, services, features, and related products (collectively, the "Service").
By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
- You must be legally capable of entering into a binding agreement to use Career Story.
- If you use Career Story on behalf of a company, organization, or other entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
- Career Story is intended to assist individuals with career preparation, job searching, application tracking, resumes, and related activities. Career Story does not guarantee employment, interviews, compensation, job offers, or any particular career outcome.
2. Your Account
You may create an account using email authentication or a supported third-party authentication provider, such as Google.
Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate and reasonably current account information;
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials;
- Maintaining the security of devices and accounts used to access Career Story;
- All activity occurring through your account, except to the extent caused by Career Story's own unauthorized actions.
You must promptly notify us if you believe your account has been compromised or accessed without authorization.
Where email authentication is used, Career Story does not store your password in plain text. Passwords are stored using password-hashing mechanisms (such as bcrypt or Argon2) designed to protect credentials.
3. Your Career Information
Career Story allows you to provide professional, educational, career, contact, and related information, including work history, projects, education, skills, certifications, achievements, career preferences, resumes, cover letters, job information, and application information ("User Content").
- Ownership: You retain ownership of your User Content.
- Authorization: You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to provide User Content to Career Story and that your use of the Service does not violate any applicable law or the rights of another person.
- Restrictions: You should not upload information that you are not authorized to use or disclose.
4. License to Operate the Service
You grant Career Story a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, process, modify as technically necessary, transmit, and otherwise use your User Content solely as reasonably necessary to:
- Provide, maintain, and operate the Service;
- Generate resumes, cover letters, job analyses, and other requested outputs;
- Personalize and improve your experience;
- Provide customer support;
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and enforce these Terms;
- Comply with applicable law.
We do not acquire ownership of your resumes, career history, or other User Content merely because you use the Service.
5. AI-Powered Features
Career Story uses artificial intelligence and machine-learning services to provide certain features, including job-description analysis, resume tailoring, job deconstruction, keyword extraction, and cover-letter generation.
- Third-Party Processing: Depending on the feature and configuration, information you provide may be transmitted securely to third-party AI service providers, including OpenAI, Google Gemini, and/or Anthropic, for processing on Career Story's behalf.
- Accuracy Disclaimer: AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, inappropriate suggestions, or inaccurate conclusions. AI outputs are provided as assistance and should be reviewed by you before being relied upon, submitted to an employer, or otherwise used.
- No Career Guarantees: Career Story does not guarantee that an AI-generated resume, cover letter, ATS score, keyword analysis, qualification assessment, or other output is accurate or will improve your likelihood of obtaining employment.
- Not Professional Advice: AI-generated content should not be treated as legal, financial, employment, immigration, or other professional advice.
6. Job Information and Third-Party Content
Career Story may allow you to enter, save, analyze, or otherwise process job descriptions and related information.
- You are responsible for ensuring that your use of third-party job descriptions, websites, or other materials complies with applicable terms and laws.
- Career Story does not guarantee the accuracy, availability, completeness, or continued existence of any job posting or third-party information.
- Career Story is not an employer, recruiter, staffing agency, or representative of any employer unless expressly stated otherwise.
7. Resumes, Snapshots, and Career Profiles
- Career Story allows you to maintain a Master Career Profile and create resumes or application-specific snapshots based on that profile.
- Snapshot Isolation: Application-specific snapshots operate independently from the Master Career Profile. Changes to a snapshot do not modify the underlying Master Career Profile.
- You are responsible for reviewing all generated or modified application materials before submitting them to an employer.
